Studio Tips

Pay close attention to the red lines & gray areas that border each page.

The red line is the ultimate cuttoff line.  Anything past it will definitely be cut off when printed.  The gray area is exactly that - a “gray area” that could partially print or could be cut off during the printing process.

Keep your workspace clean

  • Once you are finished with an object (picture, text, etc.), instead of leaving it to the side of the page, delete it.  This will allow your pages to load and preview faster.

Page Background & Cover

  • When placing a background on your page, stretch it all the way past the red line.
  • When placing a background on your front & back cover, stretch it all the way past the black crosshairs in the corners.  This ensures that your background paper wraps around the edges of the cover.

Photo Rubberband
A photo rubber band is the colored border around a photo that has been placed in a project. You’ll notice that when you place a photo on a page of your project, the photo has a green border - this is the “rubber band”.  The rubber band appears each time you select or click on the photo.

Basically, the rubber band is a reference for increasing the size of your photos. Knowing how the rubber band works will help you print good quality projects.

There are four important colors you will want to keep in mind as you size and resize your pictures: green, yellow, orange and red. The green color indicates the best size for your picture to print in. As the picture’s size increases and the rubber band changes from yellow to orange to red the more likely the picture will not print well.

You’ll want to stay away from red as that is the worst quality.

Thumbnails of your page

  • When you first open a project, go to your page navigator on the right and click on each page. The, go back to the page that you want to work on. This causes all of the pages to load up behind the scenes while you are working on your current page. Later, when you’re ready to click on a new page, it’s already loaded and ready to go.
